1.Helped broods receive more prey items and the breeding male, but not female, at helped nests delivers food at lower rate than at unhelped nests.
2.In 1086-1991, 35% of first nesting attempts for the year in any burrow (n=467) failed. In most cases where the cause of nest failure was known it was the result of predation, usually ladder snakes and sometimes Montpellier snakes or weasels.
